You can purchase glycolic acid creams over the counter at many drugstores, but you must follow the directions on the package. Rub hydroquinone cream on the brown spot with a cotton swab. You can purchase these over the counter, but if you prefer a stronger dosage, you must consult a dermatologist. Rub a cotton swab soaked with hydrogen peroxide on your brown spots to bleach them. Hydrogen peroxide is used as an effective lightener in many beauty salons. Purchase hydrogen peroxide that has a strength of 3.5 percent or less.
